EDUCATION

In line with our mission and Sustainable Development Goals, the Amrit Foundation Trust continues to develop grassroot initiatives that provide better education particularly focusing on under-privileged children and the youth in various communities in Kenya.

The foundation has been involved in construction of schools, expansion of classrooms and supporting education by providing text books and learning material for various schools around its units and outreach centres with our partners. The foundation has also sponsored needy students by paying tuition fees, providing attachment and internship opportunities in its various units.

The foundation supports the girlchild by donating sanitary pads throughout the year, to ensure that they are not absent from school. The foundation is also looking into investing in vocational and technical training programs.

Some of the foundation’s initiatives in education include:

CHILDREN’S GARDEN HOME & SCHOOL – WAITHAKA

This is a community-based, non-governmental, non-profit charitable organization for orphans, abandoned, abused, desperate and neglected street children regardless of religion, gender, color or tribe. Our objective to the center as Amrit Foundation is to help upgrade the learning facilities, provide learning materials and bedding.

MERCY CARE OUTREACH CENTER – NAIVASHA

The facility has also been upgraded with the introduction of a library, kitchen facility, dining and recreation area.

In addition, the foundation through its internship program has sponsored a student from the center for tertiary education for a period of six months and later employed at Aquila upon successful completion of the course.

THIKA SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND

The school has an enrollment of around 200 students. The school follows the standard Government high school curriculum leading to the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education. Some children are blind while others have impaired vision. Special braille text books and learning aids are used in the school. At the time when there was a fire at the school, the Amrit Foundation Trust through Eka Hotel supported them with a donation of school shoes, bedding, toiletries among other items. The hotel continues to support the school by giving food donations.
